The BBC Broadcast and The Tannoy Warning

It’s 9am on a Monday morning. I’m in the BBC studio on the drive time show at BBC Berkshire in Reading. I woke at five pm to be here. The interview is connected to Handle With Care. It’s a BBC Berkshire initiative to highlight young people in care as part of our community.

Over forty years ago at nearby Newbold College a young woman on stood on the the lip of adulthood found herself pregnant. She was shipped off to the North and when she returned nine months later, childless, she knew life would never be the same.

I’m near the lip of the platform at Reading train station awaiting the Paddington train when the Tannoy sends out a warning. If you see any unattended items or anyone acting suspiciously please notify a staff member or a member of the police.
