The Christmas Dinner is a pop up organisation of twelve professionals in the North West of England with over an hundred years experience of working with young people. We have come together to provide a Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day in Manchester for approximately forty care leavers between the ages of sixteen to twenty five years. They will not be alone on that day.
Many care leavers are alone in flats, B&B’s and hostels on Christmas day. Many are sofa surfing and indeed living on the streets on their own at Christmas. Christmas day becomes a reminder of everything they never had – a dreaded day. The Christmas Dinner team will put on a scrumptious meal and a day to remember at a secret location in Manchester on Christmas Day. The diners will have a laugh on that day.
I will be there. I will be one of the volunteers. I know what Christmas for care leavers is like because I was one of them. I’m a care leaver. One young man took his own life last year and it is because of him that this event is happening. We think we can do something. We are looking for companies and individuals to support this wonderful day. And here’s how.
Manchester: The key areas as follows: food, volunteers decorations, transport and cooks. The overall cost and target is £5000. You can find out more and make your bid by writing directly to me at thechristmasdinner2013@gmail.com and someone will get back to you – promise. We are a pop up organisation of trusted professional individuals. We’ve come together for one purpose – to make this happen. There will be a crowd funding page set up in seven days. Thankyou for your responses. Please Share this post.
Bruv! I’m touched by this. I spent a few quiet Christmases wondering wtf life was all about. I’m very into making that day special for anyone who needs it or wd benefit frm it. Our little family has a Jewish thing going on. Which we love. So that kinda frees us up on the 25th of December. I can cook drive wash dishes. Anything. And bring four enthusiastic children. Big love to you dude.
Is this paddy from the festival the other day?
Hi
My name is Tracy Fenton , last year I opened my centre on Christmas Day for homeless and leavers of care, it was a fantastic day and changed their lives, and I would like to help you this year on the day. I was also in care and i have spoken at comferences to help others, unless you have lived it – no one can get it … My business http://www.artfantastic- healing arts is aimed at helping ALL people especially those who have/ are in care. I would really like to come and have a chat with you to discuss how I can be a part of this. As soon as I heard about this – TED conference Salford, my heart leapt. I am soooo passionate about this area of need. To be forgotten on this day of all days is one of the most painful, but together we can take that little four letter word LOVE and change it into HOPE for their future. It only takes one person to believe in you for your future to be changed, I want to be apart of their future.
I truly look forward to hearing from you
Very best wishes
Tracy Fenton.

My husband and I would like to dedicate our Christmas day this year to you if there is anything at all we can do. I can wash up, talk to people and even sing to them 🙂 My husband can drive, cook, and also is wonderful around people. We have no young children and can be wherever you need us to help out. We are willing to do anything you ask us to do thats useful. We feel we have had many happy christmas’s and think its now time to help others have a decent christmas day like everyone deserves. Please let me know if theres anything we can do to volunteer this christmas day :)) With kind regards, Sharon & Graham.

Hello there.
My name is Justin and I’m looking to help out in any way possible on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, I don’t drive and my cooking skills aren’t sparkling but I wash a mean dish. No time too early. Anything that needs to be done then just say the word!
Best wishes and well done,
Justin
