Hackney Christmas Dinner 2014

The  aim is to provide a Christmas Day Dinner in Hackney for care leavers aged between 18 and 25 on Christmas Day. Many care leavers are sat in flats, B&B’s, hostels, away from family or are sofa surfing and indeed living on the streets on their own at Christmas. Christmas is a reminder of everything they never had. It’s often a dreaded day. Not if we can help it. We will put on a scrumptious Christmas meal and create a magical day to remember at a secret location in Hackney. This year  we will provide dinner for sixty to seventy 18-25 year old care leavers. Please share this post with as many as possible.

We need you if you are a capable person who has ideas and a willingness to help make them happen.    Can you help (in any capacity) with any of the following:   Venue, Food, Transport, Volunteers, Referrals, Presents?     Last year we did it in Manchester in two months. (It’s happening in Manchester again this year).   Check out“The Christmas Dinner 2013”.  .  Or put Christmas dinner 2013 into the search box on this page for video footage and full records of what happened.  I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about The Hackney Christmas Dinner and to meet you if you feel you can help with any of the above. The first meeting of The Hackney Christmas Dinner Team is in Hackney on 22nd September. If you are interested in attending let me know at the email below.  If you have an idea of how to help with  Venue, Food, Transport, Volunteers, Referrals, Presents  please email  Bobbi Byrne  at

  1. hi. Lemn,, I would love to help in any way I can, volunteering etc. I’m not sure if this is the right place to respond because my computer said it couldn’t find the page I was looking for. Best of luck . Kathy

  2. Hi. I helped out at the Manchester Christmas Dinner last year, but I’ve lost the e-mail asking me if I wanted to help out this year. I’d like to help out in Manchester this year, if I can. Can you send me the contact details so I can add my name to the list of volunteers? Thanks, Rachel
