My morning tweets and why I do them.

1470036_257379031076995_1912155091_nI  appreciate the messages from around the world about my morning tweets.  I’ve been writing them for years. It’s a way to stir the creative pond by my bed when I wake.  It’s certainly  a way to stave off depression and draw light in at the beginning of the day.   It can take two minutes or three hours. There are two rules.  1.  It  must be less than 144 characters  2. It must be original.   The one I did today is really  personal.

“I stand in light perfectly still
A shadow moved then hid.
I’ve no more than what I saw
I’ve nothing to prove. It did”

Other days they’re more  imaginative.

“Take night, fold 15 times, hold bottom part so Night is vertical.  Spread open top part. How to make yourself a fan of the Dawn.

They’ve become my friends. And as friends some shine brighter  than others.  One of them  became a  building called MVMNT Cafe.  I think it is the only building in the world crowned with a tweet larger than the building.  It’s won quite alot of awards. The designer from whom the idea emerged is Morag Myerscough.  On another level I think my morning tweets are  just a way for me to truthfully connect….. with you.

“This is the house. This is the path. This is the gate. This is opening. This is morning. This is a person passing. This is eye contact.”

  1. And THANkYOU for the tweets !
ThANKYOU for FB photos and morning messages~ I share and they are shared and liked
They now part my morning ritual and if I can’t find them on FB I wonder if you are OK !! So no pressure ~ keep them coming please and THANKYOU

  2. Reading this I’ve smiled for the longest time today. The world is feeling more and more like a war zone, your voice takes me to what is essential, reminds me what life is, and how to celebrate it.

  3. Keep on keeping’ on Mister. You may think you’re writing but you’re actually giving and the world needs this selfless act, (no pressure – I mean if you want to take a day off, that’s ok too)

  4. I got addicted to what I call your before bedtime tweets ( since I am in different time zone) , just recently. Even my 8 yrs old daughter starts asking every morning what you wrote.
Very proud of you that you are able to touch so many hearts. I wish you can publish them one day. Thanks again!
