Russell Brand and The Hackney Christmas Dinner

I’ve two tales to share. One is The Hackney Christmas Dinner for Care Leavers and the other is about Russell Brand. I’ll start with the former.  At last The Hackney Christmas Dinner Crowdfunder site is now up.   We are looking to fund a  Christmas Dinner party in East London for 65 care leavers between 18 and 25 years on Christmas Day.

The Christmas Dinner in Hackney is run by Bobbi Byrne. Bobbi’s email is  hackneychristmasdinner2014@gmail.com  The Hackney Christmas Dinner team are a group of professionals that I’ve brought together. The Crowdfunder works on two levels. The  aim is to  raise money but also to inform you of  exactly who we are, what we do and why we do it.  There’s a target of £5,000. If we don’t reach it we don’t get anything.   Last year I did the same for Manchester. We raised enough to fund Christmas dinner in 2013,  2014, 2015 and maybe even 2016.

Onto Russell Brand and last night:   A while back Jamie Byng, head of Canongate_Books,  offered me tickets to distribute to  care leavers to see Russell Brand at The Royal Albert Hall. I contacted Fatima from Kids Company to take up the offer. She in spoke to Camila Batmanghelidjh. Camila started Kids Company.  Last night over fifty people from Kids Company attended at The Royal Albert Hall. Brand name checked them from the stage. He then met them backstage!!!  He even  knew one of the young people.

They say action speaks louder than words.  Kurt Kobain said “who needs action when you’ve got words”. I believe he said that because words are action.   The power and the absolute conviction of the words you live by are the fuel for all subsequent action.   Words need breath.   Breath carries words that  can change the world.

Here’s a video of the young people form last years Christmas Dinner in Manchester.  The Christmas Dinner is held on Christmas Day.  Please share the crowdfunder site through your networks via facebook, email, blogs, twitter…. The Twitter hashtag is #HCD2014. Thanks.

  1. wonderful to know the true spirit of Christmas caring and sharing especially for those who feel neglected and alone is still alive.
